Scholars belonging to PaSTIS organized two Seminars working with the Science and Technology Studies at the Department of Sociology, University of Padova:
"New Machines, Broken Machines. When non-human actors break in the social scene", January 11- February 1, 2007. During this series of talks the role of technology for social life was investigated. Download the program.
"Showing Data: the Role of Images in the Construction of Scientific Knowledg" January 16-February 1, 2008. This series of talks focused on studying the relationship between scientific production and forms of visual representation and has been organised with the patronage of STS Italia. External invited speakers have been Barbara Allen (Virginia Tech University - USA), Renato Mazzolini (Università di Trento); Paolo Fabbri (IUAV – University of Venice) and Marina Maestrutti (Università Paris X Nanterre). The Research Unit is planning additional conferences, to be held early iin 2008: "Network Analysis and the Bibliometric Analysis in the Study of Innovation Processes", sponsored by Prof. Francesco Lissoni of The University of Brescia, and in collaboration with the Interdepartmental Centre for Environmental Law Decisions and Corporate Ethical Certification (CIGA) of the University of Padova.
Since the academic year 2007-08, the Research Unit is also managing a didactic module within the PhD program begun at the Department of Sociology of the University of Padova. In 2007/2008 external invited speakers fot the PhD program have been Annique Hommels (Maastricht University); Alessandro Mongili (University of Cagliari). Speakers fromt the Research Unit have been Giuseppe Pellegrini and Paolo Magaudda.
