Abstract

The research focuses on opinions and the rediscovery of wetlands in a vast rural area in the lower Vicenza province and its surroundings. Wetlands are envisioned as real and potential places for a new socialization around water, hybrid spaces capable of mobilizing and creating social cohesion. The method is action research. The research framework draws on two analytical categories: the need for social control over hybrid areas and the drive to consider certain hydrosocial structures as sources of ‘appeasemento’, i.e., rootedness, recognition, and palce identity.
